Six Feet Down

Michael Kasenow
iUniverse (2008)

Reviewed by Danelle Drake for RebeccasReads (8/09)

Thru his writing you get a glimpse into the complex, varied life of Michael Kasenow.  He is real.  Among his many selves he has been a cab driver, bus boy, waiter, bartender, lumberman, construction worker, janitor, butcher and ranch hand as well as professor, novelist, poet and scientist.  I am thinking it highly unlikely that most renowned writers would admit to ever holding most of those positions much less letting his audience know of them.  Michael Kasenow knows that it takes this complexity to create his art and art is what he creates.

The topics Michael Kasenow writes in "Six Feet Down" of are all things we experience as individuals and he touches each subject with the respect it is entitled.  Choices we make as people control who and what we become.  The winds blow the way we are guided and the web we weave is our own masterpiece.

Emotion is packed into this 80 page collection of work and will leave you wanting more and realizing that we, as humans, are just doing the best we can do.
