Have you ever picked up a book of prayers and told yourself that they were basically all the same? I have on a few occasions. The same thought floated through my mind when I picked up “A Book of Simple Prayers.” I was wondering if it would be a collection with all the same words as that of other prayer books. I was delighted and very pleased to see that I was wrong. This book of prayers was very unique, very distinctive from the rest. Gloria Gaither brought us a collection of words that I have never read before and I was happy to read on.

Some of the prayers were so enlightening; I actually have since used some of them. I know that God listens to all words, but I knew that he would listen to some of the prayers in particular that came from this book.

Gloria Gaither is a well-known songwriter, so she has a special way with words. A lot of the prayers in this book, she has used herself and now she is sharing them with all of us. Some are heartwarming, adoring, and just so lovely. We all experience daily trials and tribulations and sometimes just praying can help. But when you learn some things that also have helped other people in their lives, it makes you want to learn and speak those words yourself. We all need prayers in times of grief, death, love, childbirth, family illness and many more things. Grief can make us doubtful and just plain confused. We can’t think as well as we should when we need to, when we are grieving. In this book, you can read straight from it, and the readings will comfort you. The book helps us and guides us with very hopeful verses. I want to thank Gloria for this book. It has helped me and I am sure many others through many terrible times. I look forward to more books like this one from Gloria. I wish her the best in future writings!
