About RebeccasReads.com

The Beginning

RebeccasReads.com was given birth by Rebecca Brown in 1998 to spread the word of unusual, less-read, good books. The intent was always to entertain, inform & hopefully convince visitors to buy books. In July of 2006 Rebecca retired from reviewing, however, she continued to keep the site online.

Now

In January 2008 the site was revived and continues to flourish under new management. It took six weeks to build a new look, but it worth the wait. During that time, we reviewed books and connected with authors and publishers. We acquired a team of competent reviewers, many being experts in the field of the genre they review. We are now on our way to continue what Rebecca Brown lovingly created.

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay with a double major in Public Administration and Political Science, I moved to Florida and became a corporate trainer. Six years ago I moved back to Central Wisconsin where I traded in the corporate life to become a stay-at-home mom. I have 2 young sons who enjoy books almost as much as I do! They both review books for ReaderViewKids.com.
Up until two years ago I was a reviewer for mostlyfiction.com. I then stopped to take time to focus more on my little guys. Now that one attends preschool and my husband's work schedule allows him to be home more I have the time necessary to devote to reviewing books again!

I live in Colorado, where I am a software tester and mother.  I have 3 teenagers that like to keep me running.  I am the assistant coach to my daughter’s volleyball team and love every minute of it.  I have a degree in Political Science with an emphasis on International Affairs and a minor in Computer Information Systems.  Currently I am pursuing my MBA but still find time for my reading passion.  I absolutely love to read and enjoy most anything from memoirs to court room dramas and self help.

I am originally from Noblesville, Indiana, where I attended Hamilton Southeastern High School.  My wife, Colleen, and I were married in 1976 and she is still the love of my life; love gets better with age.  I served 6 years in the U.S. Air Force.  I have a B.S. in Business Management from Indiana Wesleyan University; done while working full time and attending college full time.  I have been in computers for 25 years.  I have done just about everything from technical repairs, Digital Imaging, GIS Mapping, Main Frame computers to Desktop computers; eventually I reached upper management.  I moved to Florida in 1999 from Fishers, Indiana.  After five back operations I am partially disabled, and my wife, Colleen, has Parkinson’s.  Book stores have a strange gravitational pull on me that my wife does not understand.  I tell her that if I don’t enter book stores I would be reduced to atoms; I don’t think she believes me.  I love to read anything I can get my hands on and I also enjoy writing.  My hobbies include Photography, Astronomy, Sci-Fi and Martial Arts.  My heroes are Bill Gates and Jackie Chan, two individuals that started out on the low end and ended up on top.  They both give a lot to charity and are an inspiration to many, including me.  I enjoy reviewing books and I regularly review books for O’Reilly Media, mostly technical books on computer hardware and software.

I served in U. S. Air Force for 20 years. During those 20 years I was a security police specialist; worked on F-4 fighters and H-3 helicopters; ran a correctional facility; worked with those in alcohol/drug abuse situations; and was a successful medical professions recruiter.
I retired from the Air Force in 1999. I was ordained into the Presbyterian Ministry in 2001 and am currently serving my second church, Providence Presbyterian Church, in Midland, Texas. I received my Doctorate in May 2007 from Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry.
